Files are secured using nominative file locks on edits, file integrity checks, revision control and rollback.
The databases can replicate on the Internet among multiple production sites in a secured manner. The system nicely behaves in case of Internet disconnections : each side keeps running transparently, and gets automatically synchronized once the connection is re-established.
Underlying technologies are all Free software, the best warranty for interoperability and continuity.
Structures are built from small generic elements which allow flexibility (custom elements) and scalability (up to millions of elements).
The databases can remain online when the projects are finished and archived. This is important to keep records, optimize element re-use, and know which specific files to restore.
The AJAX interface runs on Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, Opera or Google Chrome.
The elements of the database have customizable thumbnails. The interface provides an embeded window manager, languages (English, French and Vietnamese so far), 4 color themes and user-defined layouts.
A Video player is included, allowing users to publish and playback video files, as on YouTube. These movies can be animatics, animated shots or an entire final movie with sound.
Messages and user actions are logged for further access.
Programmers and power users can use Javascript APIs and the software development kit to customize and extend DAMAS.
Integration of Adobe Acrobat Viewer easily allows you to read PDF documents. Communication with Autodesk Maya and Softimage are done through command port and NetView, Planner Gantt charts reading and exports to XML and SQL formats are included.
From the 2.0 version, users automatically log on their profile. This profile integrates users task list, messages, links to teammates, supervisors and other elements of interest such as work references or bookmarks.
A generic task element type is provided, which stores a level of completion and associated users. Todo lists are stored on other elements of the database.
Users can tag their tasks "approval pending" when they have completed the task. Supervisors can then evaluate the work, give final appproval and request revisions.
The tasks can be visualized using the Workflow module which provides real time overviews of the current work. Colored progress bars show the levels of completion, with different granularity levels for the entire projet or by specific departement and user.
